G35 Fuel Flow Rate

Any one know what the nominal and maximum fuel flow rate is for a N.A. G35? I need it for fuel line pressure drop calculations.

Any units of mass or volume would be glady accepted. Thanks!

Re: G35 Fuel Flow Rate

Read your grams per second of air flow [MAF with OBD2 scanner] and divide by 14.7 at idle and cruise and 12-10 at WOT correct for rpm. 222gms/11= 20 gms of fuel

Another way to look at it is 300 HP needs 150 pounds per hour of fuel [2.5 pounds per minute] ....2.5/6.2= 0.4 gallons per minute minimum.

On the Q45 278 HP but 307 lb/ft the fuel pump capacity is about 1 gallons per minute [255 lph].........so at least a 150% safety margin.

Re: G35 Fuel Flow Rate

Rail high flow pressure wave dynamics are critical as resonances can occur when changing flow rates on system.
Returnless are 3 times more critical, external presssure wave dampers may be needed to avoid variations above 3% in pressure at injectors thru out open time.

Remember regulator is on the pump a long way from injectors.

Awesome response Q45! That's the kind of engineering detail I was looking for.

Thanks!

Q45tech does not stand for Technican but "Technical" my Masters Degrees are in Electronics and Finance, not Automotive Engineering. But I read the right text books!

Re: G35 Fuel Flow Rate

I heard you are a big expert when it comes to the Technosquare and the modifications it makes to the amount of fuel given to the engine. I am thinking about adding the crawford plenum and the high-flow cats and am trying to find out if I will need to get the Technosquare ECU upgrade to adjust for the changes to the required fuel to the engine. Do you think I need some kind of engine management or can the stock ECU relearn the new mods?

Thanks alot.

Re: G35 Fuel Flow Rate

ODB2 allows a 20% variation in standard conditions before it throws a light.

Somewhere in the software is an absolute limit in grams per second which correlates with a MAF voltage number above which a code is thrown.

But minor mods [even cats and exhaust manifolds, plenum, etc] cannot raise the air flow more than maybe 10-12%.[surely not 15%] .

By leaning the mixture [technosquare ecu software] HP increases as hot weather octane safety margin decreases.

Re: G35 Fuel Flow Rate

Would that be "Tech" like Georgia Tech?
