Just finished replacing the valve covers.

The job isn't too difficult for someone with some mechanical skills. The whole job shouldn't take any more than 4 1/2 if you have all right tools ready.

Valve Covers to fix oil in spark plug tube

Hello,

I noticed that you completed the work on the valve cover on your g35; by any chance do you have pictures or a video? What were the exact parts that you asked for and did you buy them directly from the Infinity dealer? I changed my plugs today on my g35 and I discovered oil on two of my plugs. I have been doing research on this since then and I have only seen your post as completing the task. Can you help me?

Thank you,

Eb

its not that hard. You just need to remove the intake, upper & lower plenums and then you have access to remove the valve covers.

Remove the 3 ignition coils and associated wires/bolts for each.

Remove the 10(i believe) bolts on each valve cover and remove the cover.

Do same thing for each side. Use new gaskets for the valve cover for each side. Also use RTV on the front edge of the valve cover where the stock RTV was used.

More RTV Needed

do you need to use rtv anywhere else besides the location it was used at on the front of the valve covers? Second where is the best placing for pricing on infiniti parts, I'm buying a g35 and they guy says his mechanic can get the valve covers and gaskets for 332 tax included, I haven't found a price close to that at all

just on the front section where it was used by Nissan

i buy most my parts from www.infinitipartsonline.com which is Peoria Infiniti in AZ

Also, check with Riverside Infiniti. They are sponsors on the site and generally have good prices too.

Okay in your picture where you have painted the valve covers. It looks like there is rtv on the plenum. Just thought I would ask thanks for the clarification.

I found oil in my drivers side spark plugs at about 90k. Im at 100k now. The passenger side was fine, but would it be a good idea to change both while I'm at it? I don't want to it to cause problems anytime in the near future.
