How to strengthen the block/cylinders?

I am considering an F/I installation, but I understand our stock blocks are hard-pressed to function well under boost. I know a tiny bit about sleeving and nested sleeving. What other methods are available to tie together our open decks to make them stronger? I also contemplate adding forged pistons and rods, not to mention an upgraded tranny valve body. I guess while the head's off, I should consider new cams, valves & springs, and retainers as well. Your thoughts?

Re: How to strengthen the block/cylinders?

In order to increase HP [reduce friction losses] they used lighter rings with less tension, lighter pistons, lighter rods and a much lighter crankshaft and narrower bearing all around.

It is not just the cylinder sleeves. The previous versions [3.0 liters] were bullet proof from a block stand point] and lasted way too long. How many new car buyers care if an engine can last 300,000 miles +............when does diminished life affect resale value?

now If I just get the pistons and the rods without sleeving the block, will our stock block can handle..hmmm let say, 500HP??

Re: How to strengthen the block/cylinders?

From what I've read, our open decks leave the cylinders unsupported/braced on the open end. Under heavy boost, the cylinders oscillate... kinda like six wiggling fingers. Over time, the cylinder walls may work-harden and crack open like dragon eggs. I'm trying to figure out how to tie the cylinders together so they can handle boost without all the oscillation.

There's a group buy on my350z.com right now for Pauter rods and Aries pistons... it ends soon and is a pretty good deal, mine our already paid for!
