It was stolen? Good god.

Why does the cleanser make it stop burning oil? This is all almost out of context lol.

I wouldn't drive the bag off my car to save a quart of oil every so often.

That's cuz you drive a sedan.

I'm not driving like a wild man here ppl. In fact I've lessened my 'harshness' to the engine on the highway, a lot, and still no difference.

revuild motor with tigher engine specs.... thats the way to fix it.

I think the OP just broke his engine in properly thus having the pistons rings seat better..vs the granny driving 5K Infiniti Owners Manual method.

I too beat on my car after they replaced my engine...I only waited 499 miles...by 500 miles the car was at red line until the tank went dry.

even boosted I dont burn a drop

Yeah fellas, I just got an oil change. Was still at H.

My car is absolutely faster, much more torque.

And I "broke in" the engine at 27k miles. I mean does "breaking in" really have a time limit. I personally don't think so. And as I watch the oil on this oil change this time around, will show if what I did is permanent or not, but I think it will be.

Absolutely give it a try. I was in cold temps today, low 20's, and I have k and n filter put it in, those may add to it. But the pull my car has now is definitely substantial, feels like a V8, I actually get pushed in my seat, can feel it in my neck. And I as the driver use to not feel that effect, just the passengers.

Everyone should give it a try if they're burning oil, like what do you have to lose?

My reasoning behind finally beatin on the engine was simple, I heard it was just the rings that caused the oil problem, and we all know those have to be broken in. And the fact this is a FAST car, yes its fast pat yourself on the back, so if it's meant to go fast, all the internals are tough, and need to be beaten HARD.

Hey all, so coming at this as a noob to the G, but a owner of many older sports cars I think this actually makes good sense. From what I have read the problem with the oil consumption has to do with improperly seated rings, possible improperly seated valves as well. Well, that is exactly what proper break in is supposed to do. I think that a lot of the problem may just be that people are not used to having to break in an engine any more. They just drive like normal, sitting in traffic all the time, shifting at low RPMS cus its easier/less hectic, etc. That can prevent the rings from breaking in, since they have to burnish the cylinder walls and create just a little bit of a glaze to seal properly. Combine that with a high performance engine designed to be driven hard and you get problems.
People had the same problems with Alfa Romeo 164s back in the day. They drove it like a Camry when it wants to be driven like a Ferrari.
Like the OP said, what do you have to lose? Flog it for a couple thousand miles and see if it improves.
One last thing is that I notice on this and a lot of other forums that people will start a thread asking about the oil consumption problem and a half dozen will get on and talk about how they drive their cars hard to redline all the time and have no problems. Coincidence?

My thoughts, EXACTLY.

For what its worth when I drove my car for the first time (new) I went to the hwy and followed the procedure of redlining then engine braking over and over again. I have never had any oil loss. The car runs great.

Great to hear! I do find that "highway pulsing" as I call it, to be the very key.

Only part is strange is why didn't Infiniti, or the servicemen at Infiniti, or whomever, just be like hey, try driving her hard, see if she gets better.

Maybe has something to do with the fact that usually if you're driving an Infiniti, you're just some 30 something going to work. Trying to package a skyline as some luxury coupe is not the best idea lol, there's a wolf in that sheep's oil burning clothing!

Btw for those who are a little research lazy, here's my first thread I ever made about my oil consumption. You can see the beginning of this story there...
