new exhaust question
new exhaust question
hey i have a 05 AT coupe
i just had a TopSpeed (hks) style catback installed on Friday.
The sound if deep and loud. Not going to lie its really loud in the car while driving, however i dont mind it at all.
There is also no rasp as of yet. However i noticed that the car feels a bit sluggish in the low end. I was there during the install the guys said the fitment was pretty much dead on, and they checked for leaks and said everything was good to go.
I have been reading about ppl resetting their ecu after exhaust install, i have a 5/16 iso spacer in the box waiting to get installed and i know i need to reset the ecu after that i put that in.
So my question is.. after resetting the ecu will i be able to pick up whatever is lost in the low end from the exhaust or is this something that i should be expecting. Or would a ecu re-tune be needed?
thanks

The Topspeed exhaust is not an HKS replica, unless they just came out with one that I'm not aware of. If it's a true dual exhaust you have, you will lose some low end power in return for gains up top. Just a fact of life with this type of exhaust. As far as I know there's not much you can do about it.
this is the setup that i got, it was claimed to be the hks ture dual exhuast clone by top speed.
im thinking about getting some resonated test pipes to help with more flow.
will they help with low end? they would also be topspeed and with the CEL fix for 160 shipped here, so are they not worth getting?
thanks in advance

no, bigger tubing will just hurt your backpressure. That's one of the reasons why you typically don't see 3 inch tubing on tru-dual exhausts. You might wanna give motordyne's ART pipes a look. The dyno's show amazing tq gains on the low end.
