RPM problem???

Recently I started noticing a problem with my rpms on my 6mt and I have the slightest clue what it is. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this may be, and know a way to go bout fixing it.

I noticed particularly on the highway when I shift into say 3,4, or 5th there's a slight hesitation with rpms. I also noticed that say I'm cruising at 3k rpms and I push the gas and it'll imediatly shoot to 4k and drop back down to 3k before continuing normally thru the rest of the band. Does anyone know what this may be? It's never done this is the past

Based on that last statement about the RPMs shooting up and coming back down before accelerating normally, I'd say your clutch is slipping. Time to get a new clutch.

That was what I initially thought, but doesn't it usually say "slip" on dash, once the clutch starts slipping?

The slip light is a warning that you should slow down because you're about to do an interdimensional "slip" like in Back to the Future.

lol. No--the slip light tells you that you are about to lose traction so the car is correcting you. A slipping clutch is a worn clutch that needs to be replaced....

Seeing I hear this usually isn't covered under warranty, is it usually crazy expensive to have one replaced? Or is it basically new flywheel, clutch plate and paying for labor?

And the other wierd thing that kinda steered me away from it being the clutch slipping, wuz the fact that it didn't always happen right when i switched gears. Say that I'm cruisin casually drivin in 6th for awhile and apply slight pressure on gas it'll shoot to 4 drop to 3 and then stay stable at 4 (if I held it there) And that's the only range it does that in. No lower or higher. I don't see how the clutch would slip if it already has grabbed gear for awhile and with bearly any extra acceleration applied. Am I wrong?

It can slip while in gear. Does not have to be a gear change.

Sorry man I couldn't help myself. Always on the prowl for new sig material.

Read more on here to educate yourself on your car. This is really a silly question coming from someone who's been a member here for a year.

Agree with this one. Once it's slipping in gear while cruising, it's not long before you can't drive it anymore. Change it asap....

Ok, well next time do me a favor and keep it to urself. Y even take the time and effort to comment anything in the first place if it wuz such "silly question"? Who cares that Ive been a member for a year cuz it doesn't mean anything. I posted it because i didn't know. I hate ppl that take the time out to bash ppl on their post about questions jus because they think their cool cuz they knew it already or know more than someone else. It shoulda been simple...read, shake ur head, keep it to yaself and move on to the next post. That is something "you've shoulda known"....

Simple as that
