Larger Fuel Tank

Anyone know of, or has anyone fabricated a larger gas tank for first generation G35 Coupes?

I think our cars have in-tank fuel filters (per the dealership at least)... so I am curious if any after market fuel tanks exist, do they have fuel filters, and what capacities can *fit* our cars.

Or...

Has anyone custom fabricated a larger capacity fuel tank.

Thank you in advance!

haven't heard of anyone doing it...

I can understand wanting a smaller fuel cell (for weight savings to race)...

but why do you want a larger one?

You'd have a hard time making the existing one larger. Ours is formed around the unibody under our back seats

hehe,

Different kind of race... I'm doing a Cannon Ball / Bull Run type race and the fewer stops, the easier it will be to meet the average time against clearly superior vehicles.

So, back to the thread... anyone have ideas on additional tanks or after market tanks?

Jeff92se,
Is that tank replacement or in addition to the existing tank?
Is there a fuel filter in it anywhere?
Where can I find more info on it?

Thank you in advance!

I wonder if the added weight would be worth it?... I realize the stop to fuel is time consuming - but if it's a gumball rally type, you're gonna have to stop at times anyway... can you get by with fuel cans to do quick fills between fuel station stops?

***,
why didn't I think of that?... man that is so simple and I wouldn't have to worry about recalibrating the fuel filler gauge / sensor and mounting a fuel filter in a fabricated tank.

Great idea OCG!!!

Ty!

I would still have to stop to fill, but I may save quite a bit of time if stations are busy, etc. I was just thinking of getting a large enough tank to get about 400 miles out of it, so I wouldn't have to stop each leg of the race, just refill after each day's checkpoint.

^^^ I"m interested in the race... can you provide more info?

Not as if I'd be able to take time off to do it (wish I could)

Only idea I have is to put another tank in the trunk and have it drain into the OEM tank. It would probably show "full" until that tank empties and the level of the oem tank goes down.
