Car Stalls Again(once in a blue moon)

Okay lets start off the first time this has happen was over a year ago and temps outside was warm. Had the A/C on and at a stop light. My car stalls. Has a hard time turning on. Then I finally got it to turn on and pull to the side of the road and nothing. No funny noises... Fluids okay....Idles fine...No SES (Service Engine Soon) Light.

Fast forward to today. Same thing... BUT this time I did get an SES light to come on. Drove it home and its okay.(But turned off the a/c)..

Now my cars pretty much stock except for suspension and a rear muffler(no piping). Any ideas?

Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I just purchased a 2003 g35 sedan but automatic, and I am having the EXACT same problems also! I can be driving, then all of a sudden, the darn thing stalls. I try and start it again and it takes a good bit of holding the starter key down for it to finally start. It has happened this multiple times. and sometimes when it turns back on, the VDS OFF light stays on and the SLIP light comes on also. HELP!

My 03g coupe 6mt did the exact thing as what gEE805 described but for the first time today. Don't know what the problem. Seems pretty common if we're all experiencing the same thing. I was stopping at a stop sign and all of a sudden the car stalls. Took me 2-3 tries to get it started again as I turn the ignition and had to hold it down for awhile, thought it was a bad battery cause it has that same affect when your battery's about to die. Got home, and now the car starts fine but the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light stays on. Earlier the VDC OFF light was on as well the SLIP light. Anyone has any thoughts on what maybe the cause and how you fixed it?

READ THE CODES

you need to find out what DTC its throwing so that we can help you out

If its kicking a check engine light it will be easier to tell you what it is

My initial guess is CAM position sensor. Could also be a Crank position sensor.

Dirty MAF can also cause intermittant issues such as this.

x'2 on the dirty MAF. Clean it. Its cheap and easy using MAF sensor cleaner that you can get at any parts store. But as stated above, its easiest to diagnose if you know what the DTC is.

+1 tollboothwilley on the camshaft position sensor. Troubleshooting code P0340. Any ideas how it may have gone faulty or does it just randomly go bad through time? You guys were alot of help, thank you. I guess my next question would be, is it easy to replace like if its something I can possibly do it myself at home and if anyone had any experience replacing it? Any tips will greatly be appreciated. Great help so far.

P.S. Maybe I'm being paranoid here but I recently got an oil change at kwik kar lube and they kept trying to find things wrong with my car so they could fix it and I would decline. I wonder if they fiddled with anything in the engine bay, it's been maybe a week since then and now I have this problem. Maybe its just coincidence after all. Just a thought haha...

sorry about not following up but I did pull the code(had to go buy the tool) and it was the camshaft position sensor.(passenger side). I repleaced it and cleaned the code with the machine. Thanks guys to who responded wiht the answers....

(PS a dirty MAF would cause a rough idle first, My fuild was not the issues[i just get paranoid when going over 3k lol])

i just had this same problem today. car has 88k on it.
going to work it stalled, no problem, i cut it back on.
comin back from lunch it stalled and all 3 lights came on. it started back up with no problem. got to work, parked it and tried to start it and it took 2 tries. 2nd try took about 5 seconds.
after work took it to autozone and got the code p0340. guy told me it was the cam shaft and my 03 g35 6speed has 2 of them.

is this an easy fix? can i do it myself and do i know which side is faulty or should i play it safe and replace both?
