idle shut down after new airfilter + ecu reset.
hey guys,
first the car is a 2004 G35X stock no mods,
yesterday i replaced my stock airfilter with the k&n drop in airfilter, and i had the sensor already off the airfilter and told my gf to let the car roll back a bit so i can have better access, what she did is started the engine for like 5sec. and turned it back off after i yelled at her..
so i replaced the air filter, put everything back together and started the car and the serve engine soon light came on. so i drove to the next auto parts store and the error codes said:
P0102
P0102 Pending
P0113
after research i saw that lots of people had these errors after replacing the air filter and said ecu reset or just drive around for couple days it will turn off automaticly.
so i did the ecu reset over night, put the battery back on this morning and started the car, everything was fine. So i drove around, parked the car and came back after an hour to start the car and now i have following problem:
i start the car and then it cranks up and all of the sudden the rpm drop to 0 and the car shuts off and the serve engine light comes on again.
if i start the car and if the rpm go down to 0 and i hit the gas peddle only once or many times doesn't matter it stays on without a problem and no engine light.
so my questioin is,
is it normal after a ECU reset maybe the car has just to get adjusted again
or did i brake any sensors? i looked it up and the mass air flow sensor is 300 bucks
it also kinda sounds like maybe the cam shaft sensor now since my gf had the same problem with her car like it would start and eventually shut off with engine light.
i have to go back to the auto store tonight and see what code comes on now.

check to make sure the MAF sensor is fully seated. check for any leaks in the intake tubing after the MAF.
also, when you do a battery reset, you have to do a couple of relearns as well:

Get a can of CRC MAFS cleaner. Take the MAFS out again (you don't have to actually remove the housing from the air filter box or the sensor probe from the MAFS housing.) Clean it well with the MAFS cleaner, spraying in from both directions. Let it dry for 15 minutes or so before you try to reinstall and restart the engine. This should help with your problem. Also be sure there are no vacuum leaks.

same exact thing happens to me whenever i disconnect the battery for any period of time. However I have a ltw flywheel so the rpms drop a lot quicker after the engine starts. Either way don't worry, the ecu relearns the appropriate idle speed after a lil while, might take a week or two but eventually itll stop.

2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

have to be interrupted by me blipping the throttle to prevent the car engine from stalling, so I've simply learned to live with the ecu relearning on its own.

nope, i haven't. I'm simply attributing this to the lightweight flywheel dropping the revs too fast after the initial engine start, as the stalling only started occurring after the flywheel was installed. I'll give the idle reset another shot or two, perhaps i just wasn't very patient with attempting to input it. Either way, the car relearns the idle not to long after the battery reset so im not particularly concerned.
