Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

other than the obvious carbon fiber construction, what are the advantages of this tube over the oem Z tube?

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

The UTR Carbon Fiber Induction System is designed with precision specs in order to generate optimized airflow with the construction of high quality carbon fiber materials. It was developed to replace the factory’s restrictive air intake box and piping, and gives the engine a maximum flow of air together with highly efficient filtration protection The Intake Tube is constructed of multi-layered carbon fiber with a superior thermal barrier layer to provide the coolest tract by using various fiber composites. The durable urethane filter was independently tested for superior air flow. Thanks.

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

so this is just for the tube and not the actual filter which first collects the air infront or is it like the complete kit?

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

if you look closely at the pic you'll see a smaller pink filter connected to the hosing from the tube. i think thats what the description was referring to. still kind of pricey imo =\

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

It would look nice under the hood, but is there any data to support why this setup would be better than the OEM Z-tube? From a marketing standpoint, $140 made me look at the product. I would not buy it however. If the price moves to $175, I would not even have looked it over. Just some feedback, take it as you will.

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Info

It looks like the breather hose that would normally connect to the stock intake tube, collecting filtered air from inside the stock intake tube, is not connected to the CF tube at all. Instead, the breather hose draws air from the atmosphere under the hood, filtered by the pink filter installed on the end of the hose.

with the stock setup, the breather hose is taking air from within the Ztube that has already passed thru the MAF. if this new one inhales from the engine bay and not air that has passed througn the MAF, will that cause problems?

Re: Detailed UTR Carbon Fiber "Z" Tube Release Inf

WARNING: having that setup with the EVAP fresh air hose out in the open will cause the car to stall under certain conditions (when the purge valve is active under vacuum). I just made a custom intake pipe for my friend's G35 sedan and after connecting the hose back to the intake pipe, the stalling problem was fixed. I will post pictures soon.
