Burning oil, need suggestion on new viscosity!

Hi guys

i have a 04 coupe with 75k KM so i'm guessing around 48k miles?

anywho it's always burned oil and lately it's burning more than usual

i've been using Mobil 5w30 since i bought the car about 20k ago. i'm planning on switching to Castrol to try and see if it's any better, as I've read on this board that it's a bit better.

what do you guys think? 10w30 or 10w40? or should i stick with a 5?

thanks guys

go synthetic. mobil one ftw! i've used it since i drove off the lot. the rule of thumb is as the egine ages you go up in weight. there is a tech spec around the web. google it.

^ yea i've been using mobil 1 synthetic.

still burns probably 2 L every 3.5k miles.

i'm thinking of just switching to 10w30 and calling it a day.

If you car is burning excessive oil, you should take it in and see if it falls under the Infiniti recall. It could get you a new engine! Do a search on this forum. I think it is only for manual transmission G35's.

Even if he's auto, if he's consuming that much oil, he'll be covered.

You wouldn't be covered under the recall if you're out of warranty correct? Also, isn't the oil consumption recall only for the 05+ models?
