Question O2 sensor replacement

Ok so I'm too low and apparently I snipped the O2 sensor wires in half as seen in the pic below.

Question is, do I have to get a specific O2 sensor? For example: Would this do?

Also, do I need to replace both or can I just replace the damaged one? My other one is perfectly fine.

you could actually splice the wires back together and I think you would be fine. Disconnect the battery first as with any electrical wiring.

Otherwise you can get any replacement O2 sensor - Unless it is an OEM replacement you will have to splice wires. the OEM replacements you pay an extra $60 for the connector.

If it were me i'd just splice the stock one and see if it works still (i'm betting it will) but running the car with a heated O2 sensor not connected is bad for the sensor and it could ruin it rather quickly (if it hasn't already) so make sure you do it promptly.

I've probably been driving like this for maybe a good week or so. I'll see if I can splice them as you mentioned. I went ahead and bought one similar to the link above, that was for the pre cats, got it for the post cat so figure I'll be on the safe side and just do that. Thanks for the info...off to connect the wires.

did it rip off the entire connector/bracket that holds on to the trans? looks like it...

Not a big deal - just use the passenger side as a model - follow the wires coming into the bracket and the associated pin going out to the sensor.

the 2 wires of similar color are ground - the other two are positive and sensor signal

Yeah that's what I did. Still throwing a check engine light but maybe it just needs to be reset, can't recall if it came back on for some other reason or not.

Stimulation....did u ever get this fixed? I did the same thing (my driverside o2 sensor wiring got ripped to shreds...looks like ur pic) and I've been trying to butt connect the o2 sensor wires to the dangling wires that connect to the harness of the vehicle.

I've been doing a trial and error in regards to what wires go to what and clearing the code to see if the code comes back...but i can't seem to get it. Does anyone have a pic of the connectors hooked up so we can go based off of this?!?!

HELP!!!!! lol

EDIT TollBoothWilley....the wire colors from the passenger side r different than the colors on the drivers side...so one can't really use it as a reference...

Kevin....I got the O2 sensor but I didn't get the other connector. I'm planning on buying whatever harness that is whenever I get around to it. Right now money is tight so I can't. Would be nice to know what wire colors are associated with which and if it makes any difference if they are twisted/soldered together.
