G35 Greddy TT Project Questions
G35 Greddy TT Project Questions
Hi everybody,
I have a G35 2004 coupe 6mt Premiun package falt black and going TT with it.
So far this is what I already got:
-Greddy TT Kit (18G Turbos)
-Greddy Intercooler Kit
-Rc 650cc injectors
-Obx fuel rails
-Light Dampers kit (3 pieces)
-Eagle Rods
-Brian Crower valvesprings and retainers
-ACT Clutch kit 6 Puck with springs
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-Turbosmart dual stage
-Utec
-Aem gauges (wideband and boost)
'
My questions are, my car have 75K miles and I haven't bought pistons yet. I have been reading and found 8-5-1 compresion ratio is the safe one (I like that!!!). size is what I'm not sure, 95.5mm or 96mm??? My mechanic told me because of the milleage of the car 96mm will be better (some extra work to do with this choice).
Also what fuel regulator match with this project? 1:1, 4:1...???
My goal is 450-500 HP.
Interested on your opinions. what pistons should I get? What fuel regulator?
Are this upgrades ok for my goal? More suggestions?
Thanks!!!
Apreciate your comments.

So I'm guessing you're doing a built motor? There's a lot more involved than just buying pistons, You're going to need upgraded headgasket and head studs at a minimum. Here comes my 2 cents.
You're going to need a complete return fuel system to make that kind of power, you can purchase a great one from CJ motorsports. If you want to save money on injectors I have a set of used RC 650cc that have been cleaned and refurbished for sale in the marketplace.
You'll be fine with stock valvesprings and retainers unless you're doing cams as well.
Ditch the Utec and find an uprev certified Protuner to handle your FI tune. I'm pushing 570whp on a dynojet on an Osiris tune, I have friends making mid 400-500 all day long with stock driveability.
Any kind of gauges will suffice, S-gear are pretty affordable, I like the look of defi and innovate tho.
Seriously consider getting an electronic boost controller, not turbosmart.
Invest in the pathfinder coolant mod. 100% guaranteed you want this.
Ditch the lightened damper kit. You don't need this with FI.
If you have any specific questions of need a hookup on parts shoot me a PM

One other thing that I have noticed with me over time with my TT setup is that I want more power lol. Be on the safe side even if you decided to stay with your current power output build the engine to handle more. I am not saying you need the engine to be able to hold 1200hp i'm just say do more than the minimum to run that power. New bearings would be a good idea too.
I would also looking into a bore and hone job. I am at 96mm with my setup. I am not sure if you have your block apart yet or the block you plan on doing your build with but take some measurement with a bore gauge and see the wear on your cylinder walls.
Are you planing on doing the build yourself or do you plan to send the motor out to someone to be built? If you plan on doing it yourself I can offer a few pointers since i did my own build but please make sure you know that is more then just buying parts throwing it all together and your done. There is a lot of work in not just building and engine but building a reliable engine. You may very well know this but I just wanted to state it.
Guys always told me not to cheap out on the fuel system and the pathfinder mod is a no-brainer. Choice ceramic coated parts come in handy to keep heat down also...
Joe has proven to be an extremely reliable source of information for a lot of people (me included). But... as you have noticed... he IS pretty busy. It's worth the wait.
