Unfortunately no it DOESNT make sense. Do you have the old chain, lay the two side by side and see if there's a defect on the new chain and maybe THATS what's actually off by one link.

Maybe it's just a trick of the light but I cannot see your chain alignment mark in the crank sprocket. I just realized all the photos I was looking at in the top of the thread were from a completely different person. Take some photos with good light of both sets of cams, the crank, and a shot of the whole thing with the engine set at TDC so we can see those alignment marks.

Yes but it also says that the mark on the A Monica balance on painted mark and the mark on the front of the motor is TDC also. But when I take off the front of the motor it all dont line up so I use the inside mark on motor

Are you reusing existing sprockets?

You line up the UNPAINTED mark on the crank pulley with the TDC indicator on the timing cover, that should be the exact same position as the crank sprocket mark compared to the oil pump.

Ok got it back together and at first it didnt crank. But I also read that the alarm would make the car not crank. So I maeesed with the buttons and a couple clicks and the car started. And smooth. Need to know how to reset the alarm completely though an ideas?

Having same issue on my fx35

So, I'm having the same issue. I know it's a long shot since this post is so old but any input would be greatly appreciated. Replaced the timing chains and tensioner on my fx but I'm one tooth off also. I've compared old/new chains and it's not off. I've turned the crankshaft through the harmonic balancer and didn't feel anything hitting.
