Coupe vs Sedan - engine harness question
Coupe vs Sedan - engine harness question
So I am having major problems with my 2004 G35X engine (OC, misfire, piston rings, etc)
I found a 03-05 Coupe engine that I was told should be compatible with my car as long as I retain the oil pan from my sedan (since that is the only thing that is different)
But what about the engine harness? Will my engine harness be able to fit the coupe engine? Or will I have to get it modified etc?
I know this is a double post but I opened the other thread in the wrong section. If an admin can kindly delete that or merge it with this thread. The reason I seem impatient is because I really need the damn car fixed so I can drive like a man with cajones again. Right now I can do 50mph max on the parkway and can't punch it over 2,000RPMs. Fking senior citizens are laughing at me and flipping me the bird when they pass me. Its embarrassing...
Thanks

As long as the Coupe engine was also AT then you should be fine other than the fact you will need to extend the wires to the starter since a G35X starter is on the drivers side, if the coupe donor was a manual the transmission connectors will be totally different.

another '04 X
03-05 AT coupe/sedan
What about an AT 350z?
As far as the starter being on the opposite side, the only other harness that would have the starter located on the drivers side would be an early 03 (with manual fan).
Best bet is to try to salvage your harness.

As far as the harness, without ANY modification. I believe only a late03-06 G35X would be your only option, and after more thought, a X may have sensors on the transfer case that is included in the engine harness that i'm unaware of. I've only be under an X once and didn't pay much attention to sensors.

What about a later generation G? Like an '07? There is no way that can be used in my car without major modifications correct?
edit: i just realized i read your first post wrong, i thought you wanted to change harness and all from a different car.

Thanks for the info Z1!
So one last question. Is there anyway to use a rev-up engine from an '06 Z for an '04 35X? Can I use it if I can find an engine harness for the rev up? Or would it require a lot of adjustments?

Edit: problem is the rev-up harness is for a 6MT and will not work with a 5AT, I keep forgetting the AT issue, so best bet if you can only get a rev-up engine is to swap heads/timing components
