service engine light - timer??

My service engine light came on yesterday anddd when I took it to the shop, the machine said it was the timer .. I haven't been having any trouble starting the car at all so the shop reset it and said to wait and see if it comes back on. The engine is comepletely stock right now with the excepton of a K&N air filter so they seem to think that a faulty sensor is more likely .. any suggestions??

No work, everything stock in the 2006 6MT, 90k miles .. idk exactly what the codes were .. shop just reset it and said to ride it out and see if the light coms back on. The diagnostics were run when I went in to get an oil change and we changed belts as well. Light has yet to come back on, think it wasone of the belts?

OBDII does not have timers, if you had a code it saw a problem. Not knowing what it was it could have been something as simple as a loose gas cap, there's just no telling.
