Checking oil level on G35 Sedan
When I purchased my G35 sedan last week, I traded in my 2002 Nissan Sentra Spec V (with only 2k miles on it). For those who don't know, the Spec V's 2.5L engine has a habit of burning oil at an alarming rate, which in turn has caused not a few engine replacements. Most Spec V owners got into the habit of religiously checking their oil up to twice a week and waiting for that tell-tale drop.
Anyway, I assume that I can dispense with the twice-a-week oil level checks on my G35, but of course I still need to check it periodically and have already done so. What I noticed is that the dipstick is the most convoluted one I've seen, full of funny twists and turns. And when I checked the dipstick (naturally after first driving the car for at least 30 minutes and then letting it sit for 20 minutes), I found nice clean oil but no clearly discernable "level point" on the dipstick. Instead, the oil is streaked across the stick, even above the "H" mark.
Anyone else had problems getting an accurate read of their oil level?

Re: Checking oil level on G35 Sedan
I've had exactly the same problem. In fact, the only time I've ever been able to read the oil level is when the car is cold. Seems to be a Catch 22 here. You are supposed to check the oil warm, but you can only read the dipstick cold.
I wonder what we are supposed to do?
