I just bought a 2006 G35 6mt coupe, and i love it, but..

I have what appears the be a fairly common issue, when i shift from first to second, there is a audible "clunk". from what i can tell, this is pretty normal, but i've read that changing the transmission oil can really help. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to replace it with?

Also, does anyone has any other suggestions and how to reduce the clunk?

My buddies 06 Z and my 06 G both have this issue. I drained and filled my tranny oil with OEM tranny fluid and it went away for about a week (Did it last month). It came back but it's more suttle. The noise is more noticeable when I short shift at lower rpms (around 2000-2500). I also have chatter around those rpms.

Probably doesn't help much, I just wanted to share that it is a common issue. Try changing your tranny oil, it may end up helping more than you think.


Also, how many miles does your car have?

So ill try changing the tranny oil thus weekend, but I think ill put redline in it.

And the car has 50000 miles

 

I would agree change the fluid could also be your clutch but at 50000 i would be surprised. Change the fluid out
