Fan clutch
Fan clutch
Ok, looks like this topic has been covered a million times.... haven't quite found the answer I'm looking for. Here's the question: how freely should your mechanical fan turn by hand? Mine turns but it does take some force. "Some" meaning, it doesn't spin by a finger push. You have to physically move it, and it only moves the distance you push it. Not a "spin" by any means. No brute force needed, but I was expecting it to move a little more freely.
I don't know that I've ever checked a fan clutch before, so I have no idea if that's normal. The reason I ask is that my fan runs CONSTANTLY. Honestly, not that big of a deal, but just wondering if it's something I have to put on "the list."
Edit: Just edited to add another question. Are there no bolts holding the lower fan shroud in place? If I'm looking at the service manual correctly, there are two bolts on the upper shroud, and the lower shroud is clipped into the upper. Correct?
