Purolator Synthetic Oil Filter

I'm planning on doing an oil change tomorrow morning. So I went looking for a Purolator PureOne filter and of course being in Canada I couldn't find one. Walmart only had the Purolator classic and a Purolator synthetic filter. Apparently the synthetic filter has the same number as the PureOne filter but it starts with PSL instead of PL.

I was wondering if anyone has used this filter and have any opinions on it?

Purolator filters are better than most, not as good as Mobil 1 or K&N oil filters. The best for filtering oil is WIX #51356 for our VQ motors and what I always use with AMSOIL synthetic oil.

I've used it. It works great. Half the price of a Mobil-1 filter, and about 98% as good as one.

As someone who just did a lot of research on this last month.. I totally echo Garys thoughts. You'll be fine.. next time if you can, just pick up one of the other three.. Wix, Mobile 1 or K&N

Good call... I should mention that I actually use this PL14610 over-sized filter on my G35 regularly. It's larger than stock and has the same specifications in terms of thread pitch and bypass valve pressure. I've been running that filter in my car for at least 4 years now.

I forget why I used the blue "Synthetic" one one time... I think they were out of the regular Pure-One version of their filters when I went to buy them that day. The Pure-One versions are better IMHO. The only real advantage of the Synthetic filter is that the filter has a greater capacity for storing dirt than the regular Pure-One, but the Pure-One catches more and smaller particles. I'd go with the Pure-One filters if you can find them vs the Synthetic, but either one is a great filter that's much better than a POS Fram filter or other equivalent. Mobil-1's M1 line of filters are fantastic, but they literally cost twice as much per filter compared to the Purolators. The cost isn't really that much of a big deal if you think about it though and if you're really **** about your car... $6 savings over the course of a 2-6 month oil change interval?

My only gripe with the Purolator Pure-One filters is the occasional overspray of the textured yellow grippy spray-paint that they coat the outer shell of the filter with. It occasionally is oversprayed onto the rubber sealing gasket to a very minor degree. Nothing a little 10 second scrape with your fingernail won't fix, but I still don't like the fact that these occasionally have that.
