Tranny howl when cold

Upon cold start up and driving(post 10 minute warm-up) the tranny will almost whine or
Howl. Some symptoms could be sticky clutch, it shifts with difficulty almost
Like the gearbox is slow or something, feels like viscous if that makes sense. It stops howling after a couple of minutes of driving. Any info is appreciated.

I really want to make jokes about why you're banging a tranny outside since they'll usually know a cheap motel or do you in the backseat...

But that's counter-productive, even if funny lol

Have you considered new fluid? And how cold are you talking about? Do you mean just the first few minutes of driving or do you live some place miserable where it's 30 below zero and park outside? I'd lean towards needing new fluid, but would prefer to have the answers above first. For instance, if you're parked in the garage every night and still having problems it might be something more serious. But if you're in the frozen hell of Canada and parking outside, I'm not surprised it has a hard time getting going (and would recommend new fluid / moving the hell out of Canada just on principle).

I had the same issue for a couple of winters until I replaced the fluid with Redline MT-90.

did the Redline help with cold weather shifting? Mine is a bitch to get into first and second until the fluid heats up.

MT-90 is the wrong viscocity, you should've used the MT-85.

I've seen this issue a bunch of times (the howling noise when cold). Even after a new tranny is installed, it will still do it, it's a design flaw but doesn't hurt anything as far as I am aware.

Mine did it until I swapped my fluid with BG Synchro Shift II. Been using it for years now.
