Is this a non adjustment? Perhaps controlled by ECU? Would like to advance timing for better low end performance.

If anyone has the service manual, I'd appreciate knowing how to advance the timing.

This is something a "chip" mod would do.. a programmable ECU. The ECU controls the timing. I haven't seen one out for our cars yet. Maybe someone else has?

just twist the distributor. just kidding. you'll have to go the electronic route. the problem is most chips are a waste of time on a naturally aspirated car. the modest gains that you'd get from advancing your distributor were great because they were free mods. to pay several hundreds of dollars for a chip that gives you the same meager gains is tough to swallow.

 

You can't adjust the timing or at least advance it. I talked to my tech on tuesday he is looking in to what if anything he can do. But it is not looking promising

 

not true, an NA 3 series can gain up to 45 - 50 hp to the wheels from a variable timing chip mod

 

Check with your service adviser whether it can be adjusted with the Consult-II.
