Sounds like a bad bearing or something. You can use a stethoscope or long screw driver to see where the sound is coming from, so I'm told...lol. That didn't really help in tracking down my noise.

If your car is <2007 do the idler pulley delete mod. You replace your alt/ps belt with an 07 belt and put in a three dollar spacer. That will eliminate one source of the noise or possible future breakdowns. It gives you extra space in the engine and makes it look cleaner as well.

Remove the belts and turn each pulley by hand listen for any play or noises.

Start the car with no belts, but only run it for a little while. If the noise is still present it's probably your water pump or timing chain. In my case it was the water pump, but if you don't hear anything.

Put the alt/ps belt back on and listen. Then put the AC belt on and see if you hear the noise.

That's how I tracked my loud noise down to the water pump.

Thanks for that coffee. I might do the idler pulley delete on my next replacement.

Thanks. I changed two IP (the smaller ones, one on left and one on right) now that i went and put some WD40 on the bigger one, the noise went away for a little but came back after a couple of loops. I'm starting to think it is the bigger IP on the left side
