Transmission issues in g35, possibly electrical related?

I recently purchased a g35 coupe and when driving it, sometimes the glowing light that shows which gear I'm in, for example "D", will suddenly go blank. It stays blank for a random period of time, then my whole car will jolt while I'm driving and the "D" will flicker back on again. I've noticed when the gear display is blank, my car feels a lot slower and it's harder to accelerate. Today the problem escalated when I pulled into my driveway and the gear display went blank. It wouldn't let me put it into park, after going back from reverse to neutral to drive, etc, just messing with it, I finally got it in park. I turned the car off, then about two minutes later went to turn it on again and it wouldn't start. I turned it off, then turned the key to accessories and shifted down the line, then back up into park where it finally displayed "P" on the gear display. I then turned the car completely off. When I started it up after that it worked just fine. I'm very confused as to what the problem is. The only error codes I'm running are U1000, is it possibly a communication issue that's causing the solenoid to slip, or something else?

When the valve body starts having electrical issues, it's time to visit the auto trans man.
