Changing clutch as preventive maintenance a good idea?

So I bought my sedan as my first 6mt car with 140k miles and I learned to drive stick on it which lead me to encounter grinding gears here and there and burning my clutch. The previous owner told he had replaced the clutch at around 120k miles and the car seems to drive fine but what annoys me is the annoying clutch squeak when I start it up but the sound isn’t there when driving/switching gears. It sounds like an old creaky chair when stepping on it when starting the car up /reversing.I changed the tranny fluid and diff fluid and the car seems fine but I don’t know if that pedal noise is something I should worry about.Im considering changing my clutch for preventative maintenance but I don’t know if that’s a good idea financially wise.

Sounds like a squeaky PEDAL not a squeaky clutch. Is the sound definitely coming from under the vehicle? If so it's possible the throwout bearing was not replaced when they put in a new clutch.

Personally I wouldn't tear apart a working clutch just because it's basically wasted labor hours that would be better spent working on other parts of the car.. I don't consider that to be "preventative" unless you are sure the TO bearing is making the noise.

If you are paying a shop to do the work then DEFINITELY no.

You could hear the squeak outside of the car in traffic etc.i was told by my local neighborhood mechanic that it could be a throw out bearing but I don’t really trust his opinion cause he doesn’t seem to know much about manual cars or sports/luxury cars he seems to know more about basic Toyota,Hondas.I feel like contacting the previous owner to fill me in on the process of the clutch change but I feel like that’s a weird thing to do when I bought the car last year. And yes a shop will definitely be doing the clutch change if I decide to change it so should I change it when the clutch stops working completely?

If it is the TO bearing and it's making that much noise it probably won't be long until it fails. Just be sure to use it as little as possible and don't do stuff like sit at a red light with the clutch pedal depressed. You should be shifting to neutral and releasing the clutch anyways but I still hear of a LOT of people who sit with the car in gear and the pedal depressed.

I’m thinking of running it until it takes a crap on me.I want to focus on other stuff on my car before paying the labor for a clutch.I just wanted someone else’s opinion before I purchase a clutch for Black Friday haha

I'm at nearly 184,000 on the original clutch in my car, I've occasionally thought of changing the clutch as preventive maintenance but it still doesn't slip and grabs hard on full throttle shifts. No unusual noises either. Most of the 52,000 miles I've put on it have been highway miles (70% or so) and its rarely driven in rush hour traffic. Plus I don't keep the clutch pushed in at lights, very few 1500-2000 clutch dumps since I've owned it, rarely speed shift it, etc. And the original owner was adult and lived off a freeway so he probably drove it the same way.
