I have a 2009 Infiniti G37 x with a issue I can’t seem to figure out. I have the lights that stay illuminated all the time and recently just noticed that when I switch over to ds mode and down shift the rpms no longer rev to catch the gear it just down gears very slowly. Is this a transmission issue or am I just over looking something ? Somebody please point me in the right direction thanks
It's a VDC issue, traction control/braking system.
First and primary culprit is low brake fluid.
Does it feel weird when you hit the brakes? Like a vibration in the pedal or the car pulling to one direction? If so it could be a couple different things and you would want to schedule a diagnostic at Nissan/Infiniti to find out if it's a wheel speed sensor, ABS sensor, steering angle sensor, etc.
Those lights can turn on for quite a few different reasons, a 1 hour diagnostic at Nissan/Infiniti and they can tell you EXACTLY what is going on. Sometimes your local parts shops like Autozone, Oreillys, etc can scan for transmission/chassis codes and get a result. I would definitely go that route first but they can't always find a code that points to the culprit.
Check the brake fluid first though, there's a level switch in the reservoir and when it's low due to the brakes wearing which makes the caliper pistons push out further which displaces the fluid in the reservoir which triggers the low fluid switch... you get the idea.
