Pros: Quiet on the highway.
Cons: Constant jerking because the 7AT is trying to figure out where it wants to be during normal city street driving. Its terrible on pick up and does'nt engage well when you need that low gear to get in/out of traffic at speeds of less than 30MPH on the highway.
That being said, I love my 08 5AT, I can actually feel the car and its precise on shifting.

With more gears, there's always a tendency to gear hunt regardless of how smart the computer is. Some owners of the ISF, with it's highly advanced 8-speed tranny, complain about the same thing. That's when it's best to shift yourself.
But yes, i think the 5AT was a perfect match on the G35.

Yep, there is a TSB to address this. My 08 actually can do this to a certain extent. Does not wander much but will around about 20 mph.
One thing it did to me almost got me killed. Basically there is some magic number of something like 51 mph which determines if it can shift down into second gear. I was doing right around 50 and moved into a higher speed lane that was not occupied. When I did a truck going considerably faster approaching from behind moved a couple of lanes over to mine as well. I thought I may get hit and I jumped on it only to have it start downshifting from one gear to the next, to the next, without gaining any real forward momentum, gained a lot of rpm. The result is that the truck came even closer to hitting me.
It would be interesting to see if the new ones would work differently, also if any one else had this happen. I spoke to a tech about it and they stated that based on the setup that this is something that very well could happen and has been reported.

^ Interestingly, if we were still following the ratings and standards of measurement from pre-2002, that 328 is probably more like 350+. Same as how our 306's are probably in the 320 range.
