the backstory: bought a 2006 g35 coupe with a vq35de and 130k miles. Previous owner did a timing job and wire harness tuck. It misfires pretty bad. It misfires and shuts off.
Tests/found issues:
spark plugs were all sparking.
engine harness had crimp connections everywhere.
no engine codes.
timing was in time.
compression test but could only do cold and they all read about 140 psi.
fuel injector harness resistance was in spec.
heads and block are within tolerance.
piston rings are good.
Some coolant in oil.
VCT cover was chipped.
Small amount of metal in oil pan.
Plenum smelt bad like gas.
most things smelt like gas.
driver side did not have much carbon deposits on top of pistons.
passenger side had carbon deposits on top of pistons and there was liquid on top of cylinder 1 and the valves were wet.
Coolant reservoir was pretty empty and smelt like gas and appeared to have a little oil.
head gaskets looked bad.
I’m probably forgetting things but this is all I can remember.
id appreciate any help. I’m going to rebuild the engine but I want to make sure that nothing bad will happen again. This is just a part out car but I’d like to fix the engine to sell it. Head of passenger side Passenger side Driver side VCT covers Oil pan
