Yeah, I thought so too when I first started reading g35driver and my350z. I would see people's sigs and say to myself WTF! But, it was not something I was planning, it just happened. It is kinda like be being addicted to drugs, you know you should stop but you can't. It all started with exhaust....then one thing led to another. I know this is a horrible investment. There is no ROI, but I am happy, and like I said it is not affecting anthing else in my life.

Although my mods are nothing compared yours, I thought I would only get the Z-tube and K&N filter, and that's where I'd stop. Yeah, right!! Be safe and have fun!!!

I'd spend $18k on mods...
That's if I could buy the car for $1.00.

I need to look into that for my next car.

Make a reasonable offer and I will think about it.............
Guys, quit de-railing my attempt to get a really cheap Vortec Unit!

Gman, the problem is that if I made you an offer it would be too low and you'd be insulted. I thought my standard 50% off discount for being FGC-Prez was discount enough, but I could ask for a better discount. waddayathink?

I'll most likely go with the spacer. The dynos suggest there is basically no difference between the spacer and plenum. I'd much rather have the stock look so that when I take my car in, Infiniti won't bat an eye when looking under the hood.

As for what I can afford, sure I can afford the $400 plenum, but why would I waste $200 to get the same type of performance? Just because I can afford the more expensive item doesn't mean I want to waste money. I too could "afford" a much nicer car if I didn't have a wife and new born to support or if we didn't pack away over $900/mo into our 401K/savings/investments. I use to be all about my cars, but after having a baby and having modified cars that I always had to tinker with got old. This car is already super nice and requires little help in the performance department. A couple years from now I'll buy 3rd car specifically for all out HP and performance and have the G as my daily driver. IMO, spending $18K in performance mods for a G is a waste because you could have had a quicker car like a barely used Z06 Vette, used M5, new S4, or Benz AMG C-class.

I agree 100% with your comments. And, yes, for $60k, the MB C55, MB SLK55, and BMW M3 are just sick cars and very, very fast!!! No modding necessary on those things.

Hey, if you want to spend YOUR money on MY mods, I won't argue. Like I said b4, "to each his own." Enjoy your car; just be careful when blowing away a Vette, Porsche, M3 or whatever. I typically don't go to Miami that much, unless for business...I'm a bit further north than you and I try to keep away from I-95 south of the GG Interchange as much as possible...it's a nightmare, especially during rush hour!

Obviously you have no idea how cheap I am. Sometimes it's not about whether or not you can afford something, it's whether or not you are willing to throw money around. Then again that's not really an issue is it? I'd rather get the spacer over the Crawford the same reason why I'd pick an Infiniti over a BMW.

$18k on mods? I would have bought a different car to begin with.

Thumbs up

im probably gonna go with the spacer to keep the stock look...but im second guessing that becuase usally if you space out your runners in the manifold you gain at top end but loose a bit of low end torque...thanks for all of the feedback guys..i did alot of research on this and think the spacer is my solution....

I hear you on buying another car, but then I would have a more expensive completely stock car that everyone else has. I mod what ever I drive.....so if I would have bought a more expsenive car, I would mod it too and then have ended up spending even more. Besides only $10K of my mods is on the motor, which includes all the engine mods and accessories. The rest is on the rims, stereo, pedals, tints.....from what I see lots of people have these items also. And if you subract the plenum, exhuast and test pipes, I have about $8000 in the motor. Again, lots of people here have exhaust, plenums, plenum spacers, test pipes, high flow cats, headers, grounding kits, etc. So it's not like the amount of $$ I spent on my mods is astronomically much more than most the people on this board.

On the money

Wow...my opinions on spacer vs. plenum are indentical to yours.

If you think you'll turn into a mod junky (don't be in denial) get the plenum.

The above is just my opinion. YMMV.
