Stillen Hi-flo CAI...don't buy it!

I bought this last year and while it may help a little, I was surprised to learn that unit had cracked around the mounting area. I have no idea why it cracked, other than it must be cheap plastic they use (I originally thought it was urethane). I contacted Stillen about it and they never heard of that happening, AND they said they wouldn't do anything about it because there is no warranty on it. They were willing to sell me a new one though. You'd think they'd make high quality stuff and stand behind it. They sure aren't looking for repeat customers...so don't give them a chance.

Just my $0.02.

It's beginning to sound like Crawford is the only way to go for high-flow cats.
I've heard several horror stories about cats made by other companies.

I dont think he was talking about high-flow cats. He was referring to his Stillen Cold Air Inake (CAI)

WTF is that supposed to mean? It's not rocket science to bolt it in. Sounds like you're just bein' an *ss.

Stillen just hasn't factored in the amount of heat and vibration that can occur in the engine compartment. They used cheap material in my opinion.

There may have been a 30-day warranty, but they've nothing in writing that I could find. The fact is this item should not have cracked under normal driving conditions or for no apparent reason.

Just curious, did you install that crazy 40mm long bolt at the bottom of the Stillen intake that goes into the A/C line mount? If not, then I can really see how your unit could vibrate and torque around and eventually crack part of it. Let us know.

First time I have heard of this problem out of all the installs. You might have just over tightended the bolts. It happens.

Different companies refer to it differently. Some use induction some use intake. I don't think either is wrong.

I suppose. I was just going by the original use of the word/abbreviation. I didnt know companies now'a days are using "intake" now too.

Since it's been awhile, I don't recall a 40mm long bolt. All I know is I typically follow the directions and I didn't have any left over parts when it was done. Now maybe that 40mm bolt was something added after the fact.

Yes, I overtighten everything like lugnuts...it's all my fault.
