Do you really need to remove gordgee's grounding kit before
taking your car to the dealer? I will be installing a GG 7 wire
kit very soon. It was my impression that this kit was OK
with warrenty issues.

God I love this car!

I wouldn't expect any dealer to balk at a grounding kit. More than that, you want them to understand the benefits of it, so they don't freak out and think it generated that "check engine light" that might occur.
I think Chiphead meant mods like a CAI, or pulleys, or more complex changes that can affect your system and cause a 'MIL'.
Good luck with GG's kit. It really is an interesting, effective, and cheap mod. You'll be happy with it........

Gordon put it in the mail last week and I expect to get the
7 wire set after July 4. I am really looking foreward to intalling
it. Sure hope the dealer does not freak out when he sees it!

Cato,

It really depends on what the service manager has to say. Mine was pretty cool about it, and was interested in my other goodies I've added on recently. I asked him if any of the mods I have would void my warranty. He just looked at me like I was smoking crack. I think you are pretty safe.

Re: Dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light

Thanks for the promps on being assertive, Gord, that's a nice gesture. But believe me, bro, I usually don't have any problems standing up and #1 being heard, and #2 getting what I'm due. LOL . That's not the issue here. What is , is the incompetence and stupidity of my local CTC. Luckily I have 2 in town and can go (and mostly do go) to the other store.
What tempted me to the local store when that tool was on sale months ago, was the fact that my neighbour's son worked there at the time and offered to get me the tool at his price.
To cut a long and boring story short, I'd rather not go back there this time to argue availability, sales prices, rain checks or anything else for that matter. For me, going there is a total waste of time, and only results in elevated B/P.
So today I went to 'the other store' and got the latest version of the OBDII scan tool (whichever version it is) for $200 + tax and am happy to have finally done so.
It is an "INNOVA" Equus Model # 3100. Sound familiar?
Boy it feels good to have actually got an item I 'phoned about and was promised that if I came out for it, it would be there. It would have been nice to get it cheaper , but at least it was $50 off...I'm happy and everthing's cool.................

Cato:

Shouldn't be a problem with warranty. After all, the General Manager of my local dealer is having me do this to not only his Nissan, but to his wife's G35 and probably 3 Frontiers in the next little while! The acting Service Manager is having me do a kit up for his buddy's G35 as well. One of the guys with a 350Z got his locally for about $200 CDN, was impressed, and is one of the other reasons they are offering to move my kits through the dealership.

GSM:

Yup, Equus 3100. Same as the one they sold last time. So, are there no local PartSource stores for you to beat CTC's price?

Re: Dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light

Gord, Yes there's a P/S here, but I've got what I need and am happy.
BTW, what fault codes have you retrieved with your scan tool?
I hooked mine up briefly and saw that there were 7 monitor icons lit, 4 were blinking because they hadn't completed their diag. testing (since no trip). BTW do these monitors accomplish their test in say a 5 to 10 kilometer trip? Have you done one yet and retrieved any codes? I see some misfire codes are held 'pending' a second trip.
Have you used the tool to reset or cancel a MIL?
I have noticed that there are no Nissan/Infiniti specific codes listed, but have not checked CodeReader.com or obd-2.com yet.
This is interesting, and I'm wondering just how useful this can be, and how useful it's been to you so far.
Thanks bro, L8r.........

Re: Dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light

Gord, I went back to CTC today and explained the circumstances surrounding the sale of the Equus 3100 now and the sale of it in March. They honoured the March sale price by refunding $50 + tax. Thought you'd like to know.
They also explained that it's entirely possible for an item to be discontinued and immediately reinstated.????????Whatever, I've got a deal, that's all I care about.

I also ran the unit hooked up yesterday for a trial scan. Seemed to work ok. no codes. Now I'll see what happens next time there's a MIL and it's subsequent resetting.
