been noticing the sound of a spring unloading during some light driving.
Anyone know what it is?

Are you lowered? Is it more of a "creaking" noise?

If so, lowering springs typically will rub during compression. This creaking sound can be reduced by adding on coil sleeves on the upper spring section where they are in close proximity to each other.

Also, this should be in the suspension section of the forum.

If is shortly after you start and begin moving, it is the ABS system calibrating.

not lowered, I was thinking tranny but it sounds like it could be the brakes.
Is it a sign of anything bad to come??

like a spring uncoiling, but just after starting up and pulling away. Happens everytime.

the dealership replaced my axle for that noise and he seemed pretty certain but i hear the same noise as you're describing so i guess it wasnt the axles.

I notice a similar sound when I'm at a slow roll and hit the gas harder in 1st to 2nd. Could it be the tranny or even the heat shield?

I had the same problem. I took my car into the dealership and it turned out to be the CV joints and axles. They were replaced and the noise is gone. Not happy that this happen with only 5k miles on the car! But, it's all good now.
