which intake is better or best?
The Nismo is really just the AEM cold-air intake, isn't it?
Mixed reviews abound on the cold-air intakes. Some like them, others have lost power, and still others have encountered stall instances, claiming the CAI is allowing the revs to drop too low on coast-down (approaching a stop).
Oil-based filters, in general, can be over-oiled, resulting in oil residue withing the MAF housing/sensor and intake tract. This can throw off the readings in the MAF and result in poor idle issues, etc.
The OEM filter box seems to perform pretty good with just a drop-in, hi-flow filter. This is, of course, in addition to an upgraded "G-tube" or "Z-tube". The Z-tube is a less restrictive OEM part (from the Z) that can replace the more restrictive section of intake tract on the G. There are also aftermarket "G-tubes" that are built just for the G and offered in several materials (metal, carbon fiber, etc.)
The open-element style filters that attach close to the MAF (such as the JWT Pop-Charger and equivalent K&N, etc.) offer great flow, but they also draw most of their air from within the engine bay.
There are those around here who have experimented with integrating the open-element and OEM or Stillen Cold-Air Box/Filter for a custom approach.
