80mph at 3000rpm

I was going to Kentucky the other day from Nashville about 40 mins, and I was looking at the rpm and it was around 3000 rpm at 80mph is that normal. also 75mph was about 2700-2800rpm. I dont think thats normal, becuase I filled up the tank in Kentucky and drove back 50 miles and I used around 1/4 of my gas. Thats never happend before and Ive had my intake in for about a month and a half. I did the ecu reset after the install to clear the CEL. But Ive never seen 3000rpm at 80 mph, after the install and Its been on the highway for a while after the intake install, should I do another ECU reset??

Thanks

I've asked this same question before about the rpms. Everyone told me it was perfectly normal.

Here's my 2 cents for your consideration.

First off do you have a Sedan or Coupe? AT or MT? 17", 18" 19" wheels?

Accordind to testing we did with AT Sedans sometime back, the engine rpm at 80mph is very close to 3000 for most cars. That's with the transmission in 5th gear, the stock torque converter locked up, stock grearing and stock 17" tires.

As for your gas mileage, "... used 1/4 of my gas" doesn't explain much. Did you actually use 5 gallons of gas or did the needle drop 1/4 of the gauge's range or ??? It's not unusual for the fuel gauge needle to drop more or less than the actual amount of gas used. On my car the needle drops disproportionally fast from the 3/4 to 1/2 tank mark... always has.

My car's gas mileage actually increased after installing the CAI if it's driven exactly the same way. In fact I thought I may have been wrong so I changed back to the stock aircase with the K&N drop-in filter for 2k miles and lost gas mileage. Of course all bets are off with a heavy right foot!

A full ECM reset can't hurt but it may not be needed.

My AT sedan w/ stock 17" runs 82mph at 3K rmp... Gas mileage has ALWAYS sucked! I avg 17-18 mpg

I thought 82 pmh at 3K rmp was good untill I realized my girlfriend's Dodge Caravan goes 80 at about 2500 rpm! Oh well...

i haven't really paid attention to 80mph rpms
but i know around 60 my 6th gear is around 2k rpm
i think 80 is around 2700 though..not sure i'll check it out later today or something
maybe get it checked out if it's too high?
wouldn't tha tmean the clutch pad isn't gripping as much as it should
also causing more gas consumption? that's just an educated guess
i don't really know that much
all i know is that my car's clutch is starting to make noise and i only have 17k miles on it =\
