Just wanted to give you all a warm fuzzy! I was on a 4 lane road yesterday and one of those birght yellow IS300's was in front of me. I caught up and he took off! I mashed the gas and kept up all the way! Never looked at my spedometer but if I had to guess, we were doing 90+ or more. I know it was a manual because it bucked when shifting! We both crept up on a few cars and I beat him through the turning through the traffic! I gotta give the credit to the Stillen intake, hyper grounding system, the 350Z air duct I just installed before taking her out and the G35 Sedan aero package for a job well done! No manumatic shifting was needed and I had the radio and fan on! I couldn't believe it! Lexus's web site gives the car a 0-60 time of 5.8 and top speed of 143.5 mph! My Sedan dominated!

Who says mods don't work!

Uh.... Lexus claims 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. I don't think you will have problems beating it without any mods.

The only Lexus that gets sub 6 seconds 0-60 is the GS430. The IS300 is easy to take bone stock.

I have an IS300 (wifes) and, while a great car; you should have blown his doors off. They are NOT that fast compared to the G.
0 - 60 for the majority of drivers is in the 7 sec range.

Your car is minimally .4 secs faster from 0-60 with NO driver error. You step on the gas, you go. Your friend on the other hand has the ability to shift too soon, too late, etc. Plus, his mods will not make up .4 secs.

And two car lengths translates into .2 secs quicker than him - ROUGHLY. I'd say there's about 0 chance of losing to him as long as you keep your foot down on the gas.

Don't forget, the old GS, the GS400 also did 0-60 in around 5.5 seconds.

 

I posted this in this thread in the Sedan forum as well- figured I'd throw it here since it's still alive:

I got tired of speculation in this thread, so I called up a friend and put this to the test

Place: 1 mile of private, controlled paved surface at 700ft above sea level. 80 degrees.
Cars: IS300, G35- no engine mods to either, both with approximately 5k miles
# of Trials: 6
Methdod: Both AT cars were raced in full AT mode, then in manumatic. Drivers switched after three trials to make sure that was not a deciding factor.
Result: G35 was ahead by ~3-4 car lengths at 60mph on all but one trial, where it blasted the IS away (bad shifting on the other driver's part).
Hope this informal trial helps out.

IS300 doesn't stand a chance, unless it has a turbo upgrade for about $5,000. One guy at work has one, and he had to use an excuse that his sunroof and windows were open. His eyes literally popped when I passed him (I started off behind him). He thought his car was fast, but the G is faster, hands down . Peace.

 

You might want to shut your fan or a/c, windows and radio when racing.

Yu should get grounding kit and then you can rock on while racing...i would still turn ac off and roll up windows.
