Easy Ecu Resetting
Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
Kick A$$!!!
Just did the g/p reset after 18K miles. No doubt what so ever that the shift points are back!! I am sure that mine was more noticeable than others because of the higher miles.
One suggest to anyone having problems nailing the time is to use a stop watch.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
I reset my 6MT today. After being a nay-sayer on the whole ECU reset thing, I'm doubting it a bit less. With the Nismo intake, the engine would (under load) suddenly growl starting (almost like a switch) at 4000 - 4100 rpm on to redline. Now it's repeatedly starting subtly at 3600-3700, and fully growling already at 4K. This is the first reset after the intake change. No change on the butt-dyno, but the sound is different (and easier to measure).
Hmmm . . .

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
I did mine two days ago, via easy reset with the gas pedal. All I can say is WOO HOO! Car is back to the original monster thrust. Shifts faster, with no hesitation.
Took me 3 tries with the second hand on my watch.

CURSES!!!!!! Does this work with the 2004. I have a G35x, tried it like 10 times and I couldn't get it to work. After reading this and seeing how easily some people did it while others couldn't get it to work. I thought to myself- "AAAAHHhhhhhh those fools....I'll get it on my first try."
Now look at who's fool!
If it's a G it's 4 me!

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
I feel like i just made one of those Geicko commercials lol.. my check engine soon sign came up about 2 months ago and I knew my intake was out of place and was messing with the ECU so i went down to the dealer to ask them to turn it off for me.. the boys down at Infiniti said they had to charge me a $175 service fee or something like that to just hook their computer up to mine to "make sure theres nothing seriously wrong with it" even though i took it in for service two weeks before that.. point of my story: "switching to this forum saved me over $175".. hee hee
Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
For 04 sedan owners this procedure can be found on page EC-64 of the ESM. I successfully did this today on the first try with watch in hand. I drove the car but it didn't seem that much different maybe because I did a battery disconnect last weekend and have been driving fairly hard this week?
This is "how to set diagnostic Test Mode II (Self -diagnostic results) in the ESM. What does this mean?

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
Okay guys, I did a ecu reset at 1000 miles, and can no longer get one to work at 1600 miles!!
My car feels a bit weak again! I installed a K&N panel, and it might be confused. Can someone help me here! I tried with a watch, I did it 20 times, no go. But the first time I did it on the first SHOT. I talked to another owner and he said you can only do it once, and thats it until a consult is hooked up to the car. Is this right?

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
I've been able to do this at least 2 times previously. Today, I tried 6 times. Maybe it doesn't work near the 1st quarter of the moon?

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
As you know the timing is critical, and a few failures is to be expected. One thing to remember if you get a failure is to wait at least 10 seconds between attempts (with the ignition off). The other thing most commonly forgotten is that the clutch must be 'in' to do the test with the M/T......
You've done it b4--- you will do it again.... and whomever said that it could only be done once b4 a Consult II is hooked up is wrong.....I've done mine many times with no help from 'Mr Consult'.
It's also recommeded you do the 'Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning', and the 'Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning'., but again if a mistake is made and you encounter a failure, wait at least 10 seconds between attempts (Ingnition off). Those resets are also found in the ECU Reset thread in FAQ Forum.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
I tried the gas pedal thing 5 times and couldn't get it to work, I guess my timing was off or something. But then I tried the remove ECU fuse (15A in engine compartment and 10A in interior) wait 3 min, start car (won't start only cranks), wait 3 minutes, replace fuse and restart engine and it reset the service engine soon light. I had my light come on after I removed and installed the instrument cluster to do a laser detector install.
Re: EASY ECU RESETTING
The only recommended way on the repair manual EC-73 is pressing the pedal. Refer to gordgee's post that has the timing diagram. I did exactly like it, and it works. My suggestion is that when you press the pedal for 5 times within 5 seconds, you need to do it as quickly as you can (as long as you are pressing the pedal 5 times within 5 seconds). You will get the result right away.
