Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

Not sure if you have an A/T or 6M/T, but if it's the 6M/T make sure the parking brake is on and the clutch is in.
It you make a mistake on the timing and it doesn't work, be sure to turn the ignition off for at least 10 seconds between tries.
Timing is everything with this method. It's wise to use a digital watch for accurate timing.
Turn the ignition to the on position (don't start tho).
Immediately count one-onethousand, two-onethousand, three-onethousand.
At the completion of three-onethousand press the gas pedal to the floor and up again fairly hard and quickly so as to complete 5 pumps in 5 seconds.
Immediately count to 7 either by the above method or by watch. At 7 press the g/pedal to the floor and hold it. In about 10 seconds or so the check engine light will start to flash. Once it starts to flash, push the g/pedal to the floor and hold it for a little more than 10 seconds .
Release the pedal and turn the ignition off.
Start the engine and make sure the Check engine light is off.
As I mentioned b4, if it doesn't work, just turn off the ignition and wait 10 seconds b4 another attempt.
With a little practice, the timing is easy, and no watch is needed.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

I think i got the reset to work. The check engine light started flashing, but should it stop flashing once i hold the gas down for the last ten seconds? My light kept on flashing im not sure if i completed the reset.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

Once the MIL flashes, it won't stop until the ignition is shut off.
You completed the reset.
Enjoy.

Re: Resetting the ECU

I tried...but no hope...on the easy reseting...can you guys gather the full info and tell me the procedure?

Turn ignition on, wait 3 seconds
2) Push fully and release the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds
3) Wait 7 secs, fully push gas pedal and hold for 10 seconds until the CES light starts to blink
4) Release gas pedal (you are in diagnostic test mode 2)
5) Press and hold gas pedal for more than 10 seconds. Release pedal.

is this the full procedure? i follow it through, truning on wait 3 second while the "bipe" sound "bipe" 3times then i press 5 time in 5 sec, then wait for 7 sec and...
but still no blink on anything...help me out please

Re: Resetting the ECU

Subrobo, You've described the procedure, and it should work. If you have a 6MT -- the clutch must be in for it to work.
If you make a mistake with the timing, you must turn off the ignition and wait 10 seconds minumum b4 trying again.

Re: Resetting the ECU

Yeh bro, the 12 hr. battery disconnect works too but it's not so convenient. You lose radio presets, tripmeter mileage, and some navi displays. No big deal really but the pedal method is quick and easy once you get it down.
Be sure and time the gas pedal ups and downs closely -- not too fast and not too slow. The 3 seconds b4 and 7 seconds after are other difficult parts.

Re: Resetting the ECU

It's actually at its most aggressive right after the reset and all downhill from there. The aggressive driving can extend the joy for sure.

Re: Resetting the ECU

SixFive,

What is the H-Liner you mention in your sig?
I also have ordered the ECU and TCU wires from
Gord. My wire count will go to 14.

Re: Resetting the ECU

Check this. Its a thick hood liner made of sound absorbing foam covered with a heat reflective shield on it. I went overboard and did a double layer up the middle where the plenum is. Version 4 ticks and makes 2.8 camaro sounds. Not anymore tho

Re: Resetting the ECU

I wonder if resetting the ECU regularly is such a good idea. Personally I don't want my ECU reset because I already drive it hard most of the time, so why would I want it to unlearn what I've trained it to do? Also, when I take it in for service I want them to be able to read any error codes that have registered right?

Re: Resetting the ECU

Not sure if it clears the error codes. I do think that it clears emmission data and that's it. IF you reset that is the most aggressive it can be. Nothng you teach the car is any more aggressive than the default setting at reset.
