if u had a 6MT, the BEST bang for the buck, would have to be the final drive 3.917 gears. They take off atleast a .5 second off your quarter mile time, a skimp off your 0-60 time, and add about 2-3 seconds to ur trap speed. Only bad thing about it is, it will lower your MPG by about 1-3 miles, since you will be in a higher rev in every gear, and it will decrease your top speed by about 10-15mph, but no1 REALLY races past 150 anyways...

3.9 final drive can be used in 5AT but u will have to use a MT vlsd or buy the 3.9 final drive with the vlsd assembled. This is not cheap. Parts alone will run 1700 and install is around 550.

I would recomand going FI if u want to have pwer. If FI is too expensive at the moment, buy ONLY the bolt ons u need to work with your FI application in the future. GL

what intake can produce the same whp as HFC let alone produces 5whp? maybe you mean 5 HP?

I've never seen a dyno for a UR crank pulley that showed a 10 whp gain. I was thinking about it awhile back but couldn't find a dyno to justify the swap. Even 5 whp is questionable. Try 2-3 at most.

The spacer on the other hand has showed gains over 10 on dynos. That's the documentation I like to see before modding.

Maybe you reversed those two?

My feeling for the best $300 is the MD spacer + iso thermal kit + K&N.

Everything else and you can expect low gains and/or other "issues".

Start with exhaust and intake... forget about the $1000 budget because once you start modding you will not stop at $1000 (if so, keep it stock). You can gradually add cats, headers, plenum (or spacer & thermal kit), ECU flash, ground wire kit, sway bars, AT throttle body upgrade, TQ converter...

After your warranty expires start on the internals.

Or save you money and go FI (I like the idea of N/A - for now)

So exhaust doesnt void your warranty? I've been thinking about getting the greddy evo2 and i was curious about that... I know how they have to prove that your mod caused the problem and yadda yadda, but could they really link any problems to an aftermarket exhaust system?

No, they cannot link any car problems to the exhaust. Unless you really foul up the install I suppose.

Anyway, I have a 5AT and if you want to spend a 1,000, here's what I suggest...

Crawford Plenum - @350 bucks
Any CAI (Nismo, Injen, or AEM) - @260-350 bucks

Right there is a pretty nice set up, but I agree with OCG35, once you start done the path of modding, its hard to stop. I started with just an AEM CAI and Stillen cat-back (@ $1500 total and I did the installs myself), now I done a complete suspension overhaul, new brakes, and a couple light engine mods. I plan on keeping my car NA, BTW.

Here's what I would recommend... a conservative apporach...

Go to EverythingG35.com, they have a Borla exhaust and Injen CAI combo for like 900 bucks. Since you are going to have someone else install your parts, get the Borla welded together because it comes in many peices (less chance of leaks that way). Although I encourage you to find a mechanicaly-inclided friend to maybe help you install your parts and offer them a case of beer, a lot cheaper! Next, get the Crawford plenum and Stillen sway bars. You should have a car that's more fun to drive after that. Plus, you'll only spend a little under $2,000.

Forced induction - i.e. turbo or supercharger.
