You probably won't notice any difference using higher octane fuel except a slight drain to your wallet, unless you've done some mods and tweaked the ECU to take advantage.

Usually the higher octane fuels are labelled as that company's 'Premium' or 'Super Premium' and as such, may have extra detergent additives, etc., which may not be blended into their regular grade fuels. Not always, but sometimes.

I agree with that, but I also believe that it's a marketing ploy-- they want you to believe that the higher priced stuff has extra detergents..... something to justify the higher cost besides octane.
