cold start problems?
I'm having a cold start problem with my '04 G35C 5AT, 26k miles, anyone else? I did a search and didn't see any on this site, although I found a couple doing a Google.
~30F the engine turns over, has plenty of power (fully charged, new battery), but the engine just won't catch. It feels like trying to start an old carbureted engine without using a choke. I tried to start it for a week, including the new battery, and Infiniti road side couldn't start it when they came to my house to tow it. Of course it started in the dealer service bay.
The dealer said it could have been flooded, but that doesn't make sense, especially in a fuel injected car. It's not like I started it differently than I have in the previous 26k miles--no stomping the gas or anything.
I'm guessing it has something to do with a sensor that is either faulty or flakey (sometimes works, sometimes not). Intake air temp or crank (I see that there is a TSB for the sedan, although not for the coupe). The dealer is supposed to leave it out in the cold over night and try to start it this morning; no word yet, hopefully it didn't start for them so they'll try to diagnose the problem.

I am also having a similar problem with my 2004 6mt sedan (also 26k miles). Unfortunately (may be that's fortunately), it hasn't been cold enough lately to affect it. Problem occurs when it gets below 20F and the car sits out there for the work day. Dealer couldn't replicate problem (like I said, it's been too warm in the Midwest lately) and the battery, alternator, and starter tested out perfectly fine.
What did your dealer find?

Sorry to hear you're having a similar problem. Unfortunately, the dealer didn't find anything wrong with the car. They ran a "full diagnostic" and concluded that it must have been flooded somehow. Like I said before, I'm not sure how it could have gotten flooded. It was 39F in the garage this morning and it started right-up. It's 29F outside right now, but it'll be in the 40's and only drop to the high 30's by the time I leave work and try to start it again--I haven't actually had to start it in sub-freezing temps yet and hope I'm at least home when I try it!
I'll post any new data points...good luck with your no-start.
