Advancing the ignition just means that the spark plug will fire slightly sooner. This is usually better for power, but is a little harder on the engine. Advancing the timing increases the heat and pressure in the cylinder, so if taken too far will cause detonation.

Called the local(read: the *only*) Infiniti dealer yesterday; they do not offer such a service. Booooo Crown Infiniti.
