Exclamation Does anyone have any Dyno Results from ECU Resets?

I just searched with no results. Has anyone actually gained power on the dyno from resetting the ECU? AKA you make a few pulls on the dyno, then you reset the ECU and make a few more pulls. Anyone ever done this?

Thanks!

you'd have to leave it there for about 24hrs after pulling the ECU (i'm 110% convinced the pedal method may reset some stuff, but not completely).......only benefit I"ve ever head resetting it has been better tranny perfromance (shifting)

I've always found it interesting that G owners are the only VQ owners that hold so much faith in the ECU reset. The Maxima, Altima, and 350Z owners could care less about it. When my ECU has been reset, my car feels lathargic and my MPGs are worse until the ECU leans out the A/F after about 30-40 starts. My Maxima was the same way. There are VQ35 Maxima owners that have tested ECU resets on the dyno and saw fractionally lower numbers on the dyno, which could be attributed simply to normal dyno error. The end result is no difference in power at WOT.

Ok if your engine come with 298HP at the crank from the factory why will you get more than that if you reset your ECU. if indeed it add 1-3HP that is also can be non factor because every time you ran your car in a DYNO it will never be exactly the same. confuse what will this accomplish?? maybe bragging right that you have 3 more HP than the other stock car

He might have meant if the ECU reset will add HP in addition to mods on the car, which is a whole different deal than just a stock motor. I am still not sure if it does add power.

When did I say that I expected more power from resetting the ECU? haha I simply asked if anyone has any before & after dyno results.

The reason I bring this topic up is because it seems like when anyone on this board puts a performance mod on their car they always reset the ECU right after. I want to know if that actually does anything for the car. I constantly hear the concept of letting the ECU "learn the new fuel/ignition curves" for the mod but I am curious if this actually does anything! Dyno results would provide the only concrete evidence of a power gain/loss. Here's an example so to alleviate some of your apparent confusion: Someone puts a Z-Tube/K&N combo on the car then immediately makes a few pulls on the dyno. At this point they'd have some baseline figures. Now right after the baseline pulls are made the ECU is reset and then they dyno again. I want to know if anyone has done this!

The whole idea behind this thread is to see if the ECU does indeed "learn the new a/f ratio and ignition curves" in accordance with the increased breathing capacity. I, myself, am skeptical of this idea because the ECU is programmed from the factory with a specific set of figures (fuel & ignition tables) that work in harmony with the factory parts (intake, exhaust, etc.)

Any input would be appreciated!

Resetting the ECU does not reset the trims from what I've been told. Regardless, your car will just relearn them anyway over time. I just dyno'd my car and attempted to reset the ECU through the Cipher interface and there was no difference whatsoever (I only made about 238 whp by the way, bone stock).

And the factory ignition maps are agressive enough such that the car won't make any more power even with the boosted +2 degrees through the CONSULT-II since the ECU will pull it right back out under load to save its butt, at least on 91 octane.

after i finished my post i saw that you do have the Mrev plus so you're not running stock. I also have the cooper iso.. Mrev+ and didn't bother to do a dyno, i guess I'll just trust Tony on his word. sorry for the confusion.

I wish Tony reach his 300whp goal before TN release their kit for the Revup motor, Mrev kinda pushed the Mod Bug button on me.. now i want more!!!

How could you not trust Tony when you have tons of evidence that the MREV makes power? There should be no doubt in anyone's mind after the multiple dyno's that have been posted. I even did my own dyno and saw significant gains.

ecu reset is worthless, its OBD II it will learn what it needs in time to make your car run as close to stok as possible.

want an ecu reset... get a stand alone
