I have read that some people found the same thing at Walmart too but I searched the website and couldn't find it... I've always seen this one at the Hone Depots near me... you could always order the one linked on line...

Good luck, sorry you're having so much trouble.

As of when? trust me all homedepot that I wen to dont carry this, I even ordered online coz maybe it is a NE thing but they still sent me the new filter. I don't think they carry them anymore unless they are selling leftover.

It is the same link I found and ordered my filter weeks ago. Homedepot has a catalog division and every thing you purchase from the web are part of the catalog. I complained to them about the situation and how they sent me the wrong product, but at the end they just refunded me my money+shipping coz they cant find me the old filter.

I'm in Phoenix right now... but when I get back in town (home) I'll check my HD - If they still have it I'll pick one up for you.

I made and installed it today. After 20 miles of driving (some spirited) there was about 5 or 6 drops of oil collected. Great little mod, min time needed to make/install.

i've been following this thread for quite some time, and i've finally amassed all the parts required for this mod... but i have questions:

the unit i found at home depot (both the large one and the small one), BOTH have a flip valve mounted in the bottom of the collection bowl, which seems like potential leak point if i choose to leave it as-is and not seal it.

has anyone purchased one recently that has this valve? did you seal it, or remove it? what did you seal it with? if it was replaced, what was it replaced with?

i did not see any unit which had the style of collection bowl without the valve...

help?

there is a recent thread - possibly on my350Z.com that has DIY on filling the bottom of bowl (with epoxy I think?)... apparently it will leak if left unfilled.

after studying how the drain valve is designed, it looks like i may be able to leave it in place in its closed position and seal it shut with hi-temp RTV...

will be trying this over the wknd... if all else fails, that cusco OCC looks small enough to hide next to the PS reservoir

Like I said it is very hard to find the old unit! The only way to really seal any air leak is to put an epoxy, trust me even if you put the valve to a close position, the valve can't stop the pressure and it will still leak some air, you will hear a hissing sound even if you close valve.

Just did the catch can mod to my 05 G35 sedan. instead of Home depot filter, I went to Lowes and got an air filter there. basically the same except it is blue. I also had some 3/8" blue air hose which I used to connect the filter. Looks ok, but the blues don't match. I think I would prefer black hose, so i may change it some day. If I go with blue radiator hoses, the blue catch can might look good. Price was about $12 I think, but the website says $20. They also have bigger filters with 3/8" outlets, but they are way too big, IMO.

How often are you guys emptying your catch cans?

I am emptying mine every few days, usually when it gets a 1/4 full.

I am in the same boat. I normally have 1/4 to 1/3 filled in a couple days. Oil level has not noticeably changed in 1500 miles.

Same here, my oil levels are about the same...nothing low enough to rant and rave about.

I took apart my upper plenum a few days ago to check how much oil was collected after the catch can compared to before the catch can. It was clean, with only small patches of oil here and there.
