What about this Air Filter? it's 3/8 and its only a few bucks more then the home depot 1/4 one. So there would be no downsizing in tubing size.

Check these out. Oil Vapor Filter. They also have custom barckets/mounts for these. Wonder if we can use these to mount this on our engine bay? They also have replacements filter element for the unit... (not sure if anyone is replacing the filter on their home depot unit)...

From general air filter, Oil filter to oil vapor filters.

Difference size of the oil vapor filter.

Various brackets and mounts.

^ ah hmm, it seems the oil Vapor thing needs a filter change once its used up. hmm idk.

I wonder how good the one from northern tool will work if you put 2 of them on the line. or is that over kill? lol my PVC valve is not working right so I want to get some thing simple like this to catch oil.

Don't all filters need to be replaced at one point? Even the Husky and northern tool version?

This is getting too complicated. I might just get an $30 mini catch tank listed on page 14.

FWIW the oil pools up a bunch on this can – once the oil vapors hit the surface they liquefy and puddle at the bottom… there is probably some vapor that gets by, but I don’t know if any kind of media is going to prevent that because the inlet side blows directly at the outlet – so no matter what, there is probably going to be some vapor returning to the plenum.
Couldn't you get a small tube inside to direct the flow a bit down into the tube? Or maybe something that blocks sight of both holes in the center.

You dont use the filters, as you are not trying to filter anything and it impedes airflow. But on the Special Oil vapor filter maybe it is used for something.

The one from northern tool has some weird plastic tube inside, that might be better then the fibrous filter in the other compressor filters so it catches the vapors better, any how I got to go check it out.

Seems like the only option we have is the corvette catch can.

But that it run you over 1 bill. It's 2" in diameter to it'll fit w/o any modification.

Group Buy anyone?

Doesn't include an oil level gauge but it's safe to just empty it out at every oil change.

Seen this installed on a few G's and it fits perfectly.

I spent the $$ and got one of those CCA cans a long time ago.
Has a re-usable filter that helps turns oil vapor to collectible oil.

I drilled/tapped/installed my own sight tube.

The best setup is the 5zigen Pro Racer can. It is flat so it mount perfect on the fender wall and is baffled to assure you wont get any blow-by within the tank.

Before I go shelling out $115 for that C6 catch can, where does the Plenum lead to?

I think the Catch Can would be more effective if it was connected to the intake side? To prevent it from getting burned and polluting everything else along the way. (Throttle body, plugs, whatever).

Where do the 'vapors' going to the plenum lead to? Cause from the pics I've seen, it looks like the plenum is a oil catch can. As it traps the oil before going wherever the flow of air goes.

typically for NA application the can is between the pcv valve on the passenger cover that feed back to the upper plenum (the OEM line you see on the front of the plenum... You can run one to intake side, but for NA its not necessary...

As for which one, there are lots of choices (a few posts above indicated the vette can was the only other option - not true, there are lots, such search around).

Take a look through this thread for several ideas:

the oil catch can listed in the original post is excellent. i've had it for over a year and it's my favorite mod for sure (and i have alot of mods). i use a rubber stopper in the bottom hole after removing the "valve" that's on the bottom.

i started dumping all the oil from the can into a bottle about 10 months ago, so i could measure how much oil it's catching
