Wow I really really hate the nICO forum, its full of pathetic trolls. Thought I was doing them a favor by showing them the connections for this catch can instead i get flamed by morons who want to argue that the plastic is going to melt! Lmao

So I Know That This Post Is A Little Old, Hoping That I Can Get Some Questions Answered.

I've Seen A Few Updates To This Mod Since The OG Post. Like Upgraded Hoses.....And Bigger Filters. Is There Anything Else I'm Missing?

Also I See That Alot Of People Are Removing The White Filter, To Help Suck In More Oil, The Problem That I See With Removing The Filter Is That The Oil May Get Sucked Back Up Into The System, Making This Mod Pointless, Has Anyone Fixed This Problem, Or Done Anything To Mod That Issue, Or Does This Not Happen When Removing The Filter.

How Often Does The Can Get Filled For Everyone (Just Curious)

And Last Question How Does This Mod Hold Up, I Do Alot Of Hwy Driving 14 Hours Trips One Way, Then Back, So My Worries Are Engine Bay Temps, Also I'm Using Synthetic Oil

It is not a big deal to remove the filter, it will still do its job as long as you empty it about once a week with hard driving. I use synthetic oil like everyone else, no issues. Get oil, fuel, or transmission cooler lines so they don't deteriorate into your engine oil! I tuck mine into the power steering reservoir bracket, it sits nice in there. Basically it won't have any issues with temps, as long as you route your hoses properly.

Just did it

I do get that weird hissing noise though. I checked all connections and they're tight. Seems to be coming from the PCV valve connection. The hose doesn't get "sucked" in at idle either so that's not it. Anybody ever figure out the hissing?

These HOME DEPOT catch cans work great, just unscrew the plastic bowel and empty. I ran one of these until I could find a catch can that would work with my aluminum overflow/power steering tanks, they never melt so there's no worries. I believe this thread was how I figured out how to install mine back in '06!

Uses a philips screw I believe. Should just unscrew.... I put the screw back in without the filter just to have something for the oil to condense on. Some ppl like to use steel wool for more surface area the oil can condense on.... I tried this but i had to cut the steel wool and i was paranoid a piece might get sucked in, however it is not a bad idea because the catch can works alot better that way.

Also, this is a great mod, one of my favorites.

MY most useful tip: let your car get hot and check the hose at idle, you will find MOST hoses from autozone/orielly/napa will collapse when hot.... even if they feel really stiff! I went through 6 types of hoses before discovering transmission fluid return line held up when hot....

This is a huge problem

Thanks for the tips. Finally got that little filter off with a vice grips, brute strength and ignorance, but off it came. I was being too gentle!

Even works well on a 44 year old car, 69 year old design!
Sorry, cannot figure how to actually post the photo, rather than the link!
