I stuck a q tip in my hose and there was oil, not enough to soak the q tip but some was there. But for the money we have in this system I can't really complain. But the amount of oil these things catch is amazing.

Nice Nice are u going to keep the double catch can setup . So with the setup u just tryed U noticed a diff though right. I mean it sounds like its better now if u used a q tip and it didnt soak.

Im going to try and find a way to hide the 2 catch cans better, or im just going to buy a real one now that i know it works. I mean to fully get it right, we need a filter that catches the oil in one end and DOES NOT release oil back out the other side. But thats just for the looks, because the 2 are working great i will just check them once a week and know thats a little less oil going into places it shouldnt.

Today im going to buy another home depot catch can to setup also because the fact that oil gets past the first one gets me paranoid LOL. Id rather have two points where the oil liqufies rather than one catch can. Thanks for the info bro.

The corvette catch can's design is fantastic and would really recommend it.

Okay jus bought another Catch can from home depot and figured some thing out. the filter that comes with the Catch can is actually Effective because it filters out Liquid into AIR. So on my setup up i will have the first HD catch can with out a filter and on the same hose have the second HD catch can with the filter. The reason why i have it setup like this is because on the first HD catch can (Without filter) the Oil will have the first point of liquifying and by the time it gets to the second HD catch can it will be filtered to AIR. Thats if it makes it to the second HD catch can. Dont want to confuse everybody LOL but it really makes sense.

hey jon that makes perfect sense I'm putting my filter back on my 2nd catch can when i get home. As of right now i could care less how my engine bay looks until i get the outside like i want it. So when i go turbo ill buy a real catch can and mount it where it looks good. But for now this is the best diy on g35driver.com imo.

I know the HD (Husky) filter design now is a bit different than the original (I used to have the old one)... but if the filter media is the same I would not use it. It will impede airflow (especial once it gets saturated with oil residue - and if there isnt enough oil vapor to do that, then you dont need the second can anyway).

I doubt it will impede airflow since it's designed as an air filter. I would use it. If you can keep a cheap vacuum gauge on the line, you'll know for sure it's flowing fine.

it's designed for condensation from air compressor... not oil.

It wasn't theory I stated - I tried various configurations with the filter and even the helical piece that typically goes on the inside cover... doesnt work as well as open chamber.

Or they can try it and come to their own conclusion.

the very first post of this thread.

TMK the only difference is the valve at the bottom... but maybe the filter element is different too?... even if it is different, its not designed for oil - you will still probably have the same problem I ran into (if you read really old posts about this mod, lots of discussion about that filter = no one uses it, and for good reason).
