If you never need to carry passengers in the back when you go to the hill then i would continue to put the board there. I do that except I have a soft padded bag for it.
I have a roof rack but i only use it for biking... Here is what you got to keep in mind about it:
- before putting it on, you need a clean surface... Not the easiest thing to have in the winter
- after you have it on, you want to take it off every few weeks because underneath the rubber feet grime starts to accumulate
- fuel economy and noise... the noise made the fairing a must for me
I got the cross bars used... While the fit kit i got new from ebay. Mine are from thule. I got a fairing because the noise without it was brutal.
