Dash kit is made of thin layer of flexible plastic, wood or carbon fiber covered with protective transparent layer of polyurethane. Pieces are 1/8" thick. And yes, they are stick on with adhesive. Check a video link above, it gives a better understanding of how does it look.
Overall technology is similar to interior OE wood trim.

Just checking out your site. I have a new to me 2007 base with the fake aluminum trim. I would like to do the steering wheel and the door trim panel with the window (both scratched up) only. Is the Remin brushed aluminum the factory match?
