Thumbs down How to lose about $550 on ebay

So a lot of you at the meet might have heard that I was pretty excited about my HKS exhaust I had won on ebay for $1100 shipped. Turns out the seller, who had 163 positive feedback, was very good at making fraudulent ebay emails. He sent me the second chance offer through ebay. He sent the invoice and everything else through ebay for me to pay western union - turns out ebay does not deal through them and the second chance offer was completely fabricated. eBay is doing pretty much nothing about it but i did alert the FBI and several others.

And that's the last time I will buy any car parts off ebay. Stupid scammers.

How did you find out it was the seller that sent the fraudulent second chance email? It could have been a third party that performed the scam.

Just want to know for future reference.

Wow, man... Sorry to hear about that.

I'm surprised to see thet eBay won't help you at all. Although they could say that they are not involved, the general distrust this brings towards eBay will do them harm. Dunno... Maybe they are too big already.

I hope you get your money back...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

For everyone else, never send money through Western Union. There is no way to get it back unless the recipient gives it back to you himself. Western Union has no tracking system. That's why Ebay isn't helping.

Your best bet is to try to get some information from Western Union.

the account is probably routed through Nigeria, no joke. there have been many articles/letters and emails put out by eBay about Western Union payments...

no offense to you, but everyone should read the emails that ebay sends you. hard lessons to learn. paypal only, no matter what.

We all need to resist "good deals" that doesn't accept paypal.

I only paid one time through Bidpay(Owned by western Union) among hundreds of tranactions using paypal. That one time, I was scammed. Luckly, I insisted pay western union/bid pay with credit cards. I got it back from my credit card. The seller, cancelled his ebay ID after scamming bunch of people,

Ebay does nothing.
Bidpay/Western union does nothing to the seller but started harassing me instead. To get back the merely $80, they hired a collector & saying they will repot to credit agency if I don't re make a new payment to compensate the credit card reversal. The guy kept calling me, finally I I told him to go to F him self.

So, at the end, my credit score gone down from 770 to 760, bid deal.
Bidpay gone out of business. & Western Union still sucks as usual.

Stick to paypal. They tend to be on the buyer side.
