Infiniti of Tampa
Infiniti of Tampa
I had to go to Tampa for mediations Monday and Tuesday. I filled up my gas tank in Tampa on Monday at noon, and drove about a mile and went inside for the first mediation. I then went to meet a fellow member and got my Crawford cats (used) for him (shut the car off). Then went and had a late lunch in NPR (shut off car) before heading to my hotel to watch the football game.
Well, my car simply cut all fuel (at 55mph) and dropped to less than 1200 rpm's in first gear. I managed to get it pulled over in the middle of nowhere Land O' Lakes. I restarted it two or three times and had the same result: all dash lights on, throttle would not go over 1200rpms and car would not shift out of first gear.
I had to call Infiniti roadside assistance (it was 515pm) and they sent out a tow truck. It took them about 40 minutes to show up (not bad for rush hour and being 30miles away of society). I had to have my car towed, and the closest of Infiniti of Tampa--they wouldn't let me take it to Lokey as it was "farther" by 10 miles. Anyway, I called the dealer to tell them I was coming but the service end closes at 6pm. I talked to a service tech who kinda blew me off. I mean, I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, no rental places anywhere near me, the dealer was 30 miles from where my car was, my hotel was 30 miles away from the dealer and I had another mediation Tuesday.
I called Infiniti corp and they blew me off saying the tow was all they could do "at that time", and then I got lost in voicemail h=ll. I called the dealer back and I got the assistant service manager: Luis Castellanos. Let me tell you what--this guy gave me THE BEST SERVICE EVER.
He pulled up my service history in the system. He verified my issue over the phone. He set me up with an Infiniti loaner car and had all the service paperwork completed and left it with the receptionist at the dealer (they were open until 8pm in sales). He highlighted everything needing to be signed, left his card with his cell number to call him and confirm I had been entirely taken care of. I did have to give him all of my credit card info over the phone in case any of the work wasn't warranty related, but he took care of me on a sight unseen basis and kept my loss of time to a minimum.
I showed up at almost 730pm in the raggedy tow truck and got the loaner, completed the paperwork etc. He called my by 9am the next morning and was already working on the car. By 1130, they had taken care of the problem (more on that below) and had even washed my freakin' car. So perfect--and all under warranty...
Anyway, the problem was the gas cap. Somehow the seal got messed up, tripped a sensor and then the car cut off all fuel and shut itself down. The replaced the cap and reset the whole system--a 15minute fix. How weird is that?
Either way, this guy gave me the best service ever--and gave me no grief for my aftermarket parts. If anyone goes there, see Luis. He really did me right when he didn't have to...

Wow, that's exceptional service! It's nice to hear that things like that still happen. Thanks for the writeup.
It's nice to be able to put a face to your screen name now... especially since I am in on the "sweet" apple joke too... Glad you got everything fixed... I never heard of that gas cap problem before... I would have never guessed that!
Who you going to get to put your cats on?

Um, I might have Stage 6 or Velocity Trends do it here in Jax as I'd like to get it done soon. That being said, Jeremy is going to do my utec (my !@#$%^& dividend check STILL isn't here), and if I haven't had them installed before then, I'll have him do it then...

You're going to get ripped off if you do, have you even called them for a quote??... You only get a "deal" when you're good friends with someone up there. I'd advise you to let Jeremy do it while you get your Utec.
